About Hawthorns Therapy Centre
I have always been interested in how the mind works and how powerful it can be. About ten years ago I began to experience high levels of stress, anxiety and panic attacks. This caused me to visit my GP and I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition. I was very lucky as my illness was treated quickly and effectively with radio Iodine and my symptoms subsided. However, this did give me a real insight as to how frightening and isolating panic attacks and anxiety can be. Whilst I was unwell I did experience the benefits of several therapies and they proved to be very helpful. From that moment on I knew that I wanted to work with people who suffer with stress related issues. This has led me to qualify as a Clinical Hypnotherapist offering specialised services to people who lack confidence, suffer with nervous disorders, anxiety and panic attacks. In addition to this I help clients with many other problems.
Before becoming a qualified hypnotherapist I worked in the care sector for over 30 years. My career began looking after vulnerable adults in the community and quickly progressed to the management of Domicilliary Care Agencies and Residential Care Homes. I worked extensively with patients with acquired brain injuries, learning disabilities, Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease, Huntingtons Disease and Mental health disorders such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar. Many of my clients also suffered with depression, stress, anxiety and panic attacks. During this time I qualified as a tutor in adult education and for 15 years I taught and verified the NVQ Care and Management programmes offered by City and Guilds, CACHE and Pearson Edexcel.
I completed my Foundation and Diploma training with the Kent College of Hypnotherapy and am a member of the Hypnotherapy Association and the CNHC (Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council)
I am also qualifiled in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Life Coaching.
